In six months Teslas have gone from status symbols to the automotive equivalent of MAGA hats. It’s astonishing; I’ve never seen any brand lose so much goodwill for such a stupid reason before. 

So, any “old car re-imagined” ends up being out of proportion. The window pillars are too thick and massive, the nose is the wrong shape, the vehicle is higher, etc. etc. etc. The end result is that most of these homage vehicles look more like parodies.

The more I think about this, the less sense it makes. Used cars are obviously cheaper than new cars, so if the driving force in used car price decreases is fear of recession, I think the conclusion is that new car price increases are being driven only by real and significant differences in incomes. Facebook was mostly just status updates because we didn’t have camera phones, and then we had twitter which was also just status updates when facebook starting becomeing more about photos and vidoes. And instagram was just photos, which Facebook already did. And snapchat was just nude-y…
