Since nobody asked my opinion, I find BBT irritating because the main nerd guy is such a dick.  I've been told by fans of the show that the character has some kind of Asberger-y thing that inhibits him socially.  If that's been written into the show, that feels like a massive cop-out.  Was there a "very special

A safer word might be "harder."

wrong spot.

Does anyone even remember McCarthy's character's name?  Also, she seems in a hurry to squander the good will the performance

I thought for sure Strangelove had won.  Rex Harrison?  Did My Fair Lady win that year?  Did Strangelove at least win at the British film whatever awards?

@avclub-d542a3419c3ad57206a96bcc86155ebc:disqus If I could, I'd like that comment so hard.

Be careful, though. Some ducks will fly away with your penis while you're looking for the guy who used to work on your Lincoln.   …Goddamn ducks…

@avclub-d7f43e1fb2d4977c86163d9b0cb07814:disqus  Good points - a fuzzier ending plays better for Oscar appeal, but there have been films with bummer endings that win Oscars. Dr. Strangelove jumps to mind.  No Country for Old men too.

You can say you like Rocky better, but I think it's disingenuous to say that the other movies don't inspire emotional responses.  It makes me think you've never seen Howard Beale's rant.

Yeah, it was a swell movie… but let's remember that it beat Network, Taxi Driver, and All the President's Men and then consider what that Best Picture Oscar is really worth.

But how does he stack up against Will McEvoy?

They might also castrate Tim Tebow and perform an abortion on his wife.

@avclub-100a2a14a7f2903d29db0dc435c0cfe8:disqus L-A is an urban legend turned hacky joke. I've heard the same anecdote in several public administration workplaces pre-dating the repetition on this overrated sketch show. Key and/or Peele probably has an aunt that works in a Medicaid eligibility office.

I thought it was here at the AV Club, where I saw the headline for a Lars and the Bastards album review, "Lars Frederiksen is the punkiest punk who ever punked. Just ask him."  Funny stuff.

At least you don't have to somehow sync your Twitter feed to your American Express card with your Samsung phone.  This is how you win Jay-Z concert tickets.

You…asshole. Now there's no way I'm getting to sleep tonight.

Right.  I got roped into watching Project Runway this season and was bummed that there was no TV Club to help me through it.  An end-of-season wrap-up would be a welcome dessert course.
