The interview was about Abby’s autobiography and she asked a question about something she wrote. Abby could have had that entire part edited out if she chooses to but didn’t feel the need to.

Terry Gross has been a security blanket for me, my entire life.
Having someone ask you why you’re queer is one of those things that all queer people go through though.
Terry Gross: Let me ask you a specific question about something you wrote in your autobiography that we can edit out later if you want.....
Terry Gross is probably the least offensive person on the planet. She is a curious person who researches her subject. All she did was ask a question pertaining to a chapter in Abby’s autobiography. No harm, no foul.
Terry Gross is known for editing out questions. She always ask who she interviews with what to air.
Go with compliment. Always go with compliment lol
Nope. I’m not going to let you turn this thread into a stereotype off or as an exercise in gender assimilation. Terry Gross is a national treasure and frankly, I expected more from you.
Are you aware that Terry Gross makes a point of asking her guests if they want any part of their interview edited out? She’s happy to oblige.
The only reason I was comfortably able to come out in highschool (in the 90's) is because I went to a super progressing performing arts school in a major city. I’m aware how lucky I was and how much harder it was for most kids, even today.
I don’t know if you’re aware but Terry Gross has a policy of editing out portions of the interview that the subject is uncomfortable with.
New rule: ask a member or two of the minority you believe you are outraged for, who have heard/read the entire thing you are going to write a think piece for and ask them how they actually feel.
In this context, Gross was referencing something in the autobiography Abby was doing Press for.
When I get asked about how I’m sure I’m gay, I ask how they’re sure they’re heterosexual. That usually answers everything for them.
There’s a Kinsey Scale for a reason.
I imagine Voltron but with sharks and from now on....
And I still get hella upset when it’s just Dave Davis interviewing for the day.
She didn’t start the interview with:
First, the Chrissy Teigan article trying to explain we we shouldn’t be mad at her for using her platform to tacitly approve of the term oriental while using stereotypical imagery and now this. /smh
Can I atleast label your attempts as queersplaining? (tm)
