As a Jewish girl from a family of Holocaust survivors, who loved Roald Dahl's books with all of her little girl's heart, I understand where you're coming from.

It's arguable that his anti-semitism could be interpreted as crossing over into Nazi-sympathising;

Unfortunately Dahl was definitely a life long anti-semite. For example, some of his early writing was full of anti-semitic tropes and stereotypes, and in his sixties he reportedly had a public meltdown about the excessive number of Jews at his country club.

So Ryan Lochte finds walking and talking a difficult skill to master?

I’m afraid to inform you that you are in fact already dead.

But the wage gap issue doesn’t stand alone. As has been pointed out, the wage gap is largely a symptom of a systemically sexist culture that undermines women and their worth. This culture is both reflected and perpetuated by media exactly like that Hooters ad.

If a ~20-30% shortfall really is such an insignificant figure to be concerned about, perhaps Mr. Ponnuru would be willing to accept a voluntary pay cut. All in good faith of course; just to show the conviction of his ideals as a writer.

If you changed the map title to something like "Poverty Rates Amongst US States", I wonder how long it would be before anyone noticed the switch...

Maybe Ann Romney was overly involved in the selection process?

You may consider yourself to be anti-violence, but consider this; forcing an unwilling woman to give birth is an unparalleled agglomeration of physical, psychological, emotional and social violence.

Clearly there isn't enough caffeine in whatever you're drinking, as I have been quite clear in highlighting the logical inconsistencies in your view in previous posts (as have others).

I don't have them to hand, but I've seen studies showing that rapists deliberately target vulnerable women who are likely to be considered less credible.

Well, you really should consider switching to fair trade. And also having a long, hard think about the logical inconsistencies in your views on abortion and the deeply and unconsciously held beliefs regarding women these indicate.

But, but, I'm so liberal on all other social issues; if I don't hate black people or gay people, it must be logically impossible for me to believe that women are anything other than my fully human equals. Besides, I even buy fair trade coffee.

In other words, although you have no justification or support for your argument, you're still happy to restrict, impoverish and endanger the lives of women and their families on the basis of it. Ah, the ethical framework that the soi-disant moral types apply only to others...

I totally get the impulse to get the hell out of dodge. ;)

Your stance is still that women should only have access to abortions if conforming to certain criteria that you deem worthy i.e. rape, or not actively choosing to have sex. Either abortion is always murder, or you just honestly think that people conceived via rape or incest are somehow sub-human and not deserving of

So what you're saying is that women's medical and bodily autonomy is only okay provided that, you, MDeM, personally approve their associated lifestyle decisions and sign off on them?

Appropriate away!

Exactly - all this liberal cringing and hand-wringing about how abortion is omg teh worstest thing evah that can happen to a women plays into the anti-choice movement's lies that;
