I'm fairly certain the only thing wrong with this video is holy hell buy some new wiper blades!

Yes a new set of all seasons would probably be better in the snow than a bald set of winter tires. But what I was saying is that if you start out with a new set of winter tires and a new set of all seasons and you swap them each season, they're going to last longer than just the all seasons.

My other vehicle is a $4000 motorcycle that gets 70mpg and costs $400 to insure for the year (with many points on my license, so many that the winter car, a pontiac sunfire, would have cost $1600 to insure for the whole year)

I drove an $800 car last winter, I put brand new tires on it and had the transmission fixed up like new and changed out all the filters and fluids. If I had not done all of those things I probably could have gotten myself a $2000+ car, but doing all of those things was far more important for safety than driving a more

I'd still largely rather have a $600 car with winter tires than a $1200 car with bald tires. Buying winter tires is going to drastically increase your tire life. Your all season or summer tires are not going to wear during the 4months that you've got winter tires on, and your winter tires are not going to wear during

I'm really not trying to be argumentative here, so please forgive me if my tone comes off as so:

Why is it ridiculous?

If you're going 20mph, and you hit ice and go into a ditch, you should have been going slower. Or maybe you should have had better tires on your car. But if you hit ice, and because you hit that ice you went off the road, that's driving too fast for conditions, plain and simple. You may not like it, but its the truth.

I can agree with it being bullshit in your case. I think the only time you should get a ticket for this is if you go off the road. If you get a ticket for too fast for conditions without having actually crashed, there is no way for the officer to tell you were going too fast. However, if you're passing someone and you

I'm sure other people have said this already, but this is perfectly reasonable. "I just happened to hit a slippery patch." That's exactly why you should have been going slower. if the person in question had been going slower, they probably would not have slid off the road when they hit that slippery patch. If you lose

This was my favorite car way back when. I didn't even know what it was, just that it looked fantastic and I wanted one.

I think "comically erroneous" is taking it a bit far. There are MANY factors to take into account how safe a car is. These tests only test how safe the car is in an accident, they do not do any calculations to consider how likely the car is to be in an accident, because you can't calculate that. Someone who is an

While thats true. I think what's more true is the fact that anyone who's got an old F150 and buy's a new F-150 is going to be saving the planet far more than anyone who switches from an older corolla to a newer corolla, or a newer prius. I don't think there are many people out there who are going to go from an F-150

I do what I can.

You wouldn't think so if you were a cat!

This is true. They probably could've done that. And they probably will do that on a more aggressive package sometime in the future. Think of it this way, would you rather not be able to hear the engine due to sound deadening, or be able to hear it through a sound tube?

Maybe they've just soundproofed the cabin so well against road noise that it deadened the engine noise. And they did this so that they could eliminate road noise but not eliminate the engine noise. At least its not electronic like on some BMW M cars.

My response to that is both non topical and non informative:
