Agreed. I'm just saying, the dude has lied so many times in an effort to provide plot-twists that I don't believe for a moment he wouldn't do it just to fuck with people. But, like I said, I'm going with MLC's "Black Guardian" theory-….when I know full well that it will have to do something with a pre-established

We agree on the whole "whether one chooses to believe Moffat" thing. Personally, I don't put anything past him. The guy craves "twists" more than anything else in his writing. But, in all seriousness, I honestly don't think it's The Valeyard. I'm just saying that I wouldn't put it past Moff, and just because he says

So "Bag of Holdings" didn't exist before the Scott Pilgrim movie? ;)

I would so love to agree. Because I think he has the strongest gravitas since Eccleston. But for some reason….maybe it was the pacing….none of that scene worked for me. Maybe it was the overpowering musical catastrophe going on. Maybe it was that specific take. But overall, it fell flat for me. I've found other scenes

The Aristocrats!

"Yes. Seriously. The world is much more security conscious now than it was during the first run of Doctor Who. People are far less likely to accept the authority of a stranger and the psychic paper is a frictionless way (with limitations as we saw in 'Flatline') for the Doctor to quickly establish his credentials.

Fair points. And like I've mentioned elsewhere, I have learned through the RTD years of over-use to try and ignore it like you said. And like I also mentioned, I was a bit too nitpicky in my take on the episode. There were other things that bothered me way more than "the sonic solves the world" thing I've seen many

And yet, he wrote The Great Intelligence mentioning the name "Valeyard" out of the blue. So, are you sure that's true?

In the way it was presented in the show. Clara just waved it around at everything, used for everything (except opening doors for some reason) and then The Doctor used it to "make all the bad guys go away". End of story.

How dare you worship Peter Capaldi as some sort of iconic figurehead!! That's so offensive to people like you!!

@ Don Staples

Okay, because it seemed like you didn't understand why they did that. Just trying to be helpful. :)

Okay, that I might watch…

Same prop/toy/model with a repaint, I'd wager. Same as them reusing it for Power of Three, Doctor's Wife, etc. Same as the re-use of the Doctor's orange spacesuit (Waters of Mars, Hide, Time Heist, Listen, etc.) The BBC has been under cut-backs. So, this is probably a cost-saving feature on their part.

"Moffat is a scientifically illiterate scumbag."

"It is 2014 and not 1975. Nobody is going to accept some stranger walking in and taking charge of a situation without some sort of credential."

"I think it's wonderful that, ignoring the classic show, Doctor Who has reached its eighth season and it still feels so vibrant."

I think you might be onto something. If nothing else, you get how predictable this series has become in the past eight years in its tropes.

It's called "product placement". It's why they re-use the same props over and over for different stories. What's easier to mass-market as a toy than a box? The Power of Three "cubes", the Time Lord email, the Pandorica toy, etc. Hell, I was pretty sure the shrunken TARDIS in this episode was one of the action figure

Good points! I agree. I'd also add that, not only does her moral shift seem curious to him (compared to her freak outs from the past season) but the fact that she lied to him about her reasons for staying. I'm thinking he doesn't want her to become like him, because he hates himself in some ways.
