"Magic" based on real scientific concepts and theories, though. Especially in this case. Otherwise, why not have a finger stick through and it become a magic bunny and tickles The Doctor and then they have tea? ;) lol

I think you hit it on the head, Fork. There's nothing wrong with PC's Doctor or with Clara. But the writing and focus has been so erratic and vague as to make the show lose tone and temp. They over-exaggerate everything, basically hammering the same things at the audience over and over. Yes, we get it, you "fixed"

What a random, vague conclusion. How could anyone read what Detective Fork actually wrote and come away with something so perfectly wrong?

Agreed on all points.

Not sure I agree. I think it's all in the quality of how it's conceived and executed. I don't believe viewers are so limited as to not being able to grasp or keep up with a serialized story. And in retrospect, Season Six wasn't that uber-connected. There were a couple right in the middle that lead into each other. But

I'm genuinely curious: For an institution that isn't driven by profit or an ad-based system, why does the BBC care about ratings? Is that part of something in the government charter? Anyone?

"I've long accept these as quirks of the show no more ridiculous than the central conceit of the time traveling phone box."

"The alternative would be more bogus technical mumbo jumbo and protracted sequences of the Doctor attempting to gain credibility that'll just be a different kind of silly like how the Winchesters constantly get away with pretending to be federal agents."

Doctor's Daughter for runner-up? Any takers? Just me?

And maybe I do overstate my own passion at times, without taking a moment to breathe and realize where the dividing line is between "critique" and "bitching". At the end of the day, it's Doctor Who. I think we can at least find common ground on the fact we're both passionate about the same thing. :)

Depending on how far back you go, you can find various iterations of the same. But for me, the length of Classic Who episodes seem to have the gift of being able to allow the viewer to digest certain implausible nonsense setups. That's where I think the modern Who falls short. You're asked to swallow it wholesale in

"Blather, blather, blather."

Maybe if you were selling viagra-laced sunglasses made by Peter Capaldi….?

You got me on that one, Alasdair. I'd already edited that out, along with some of my other over-reactions as well. It's certainly not fair of me to lay blame for any of my dislike of this season on you or your reviews. So I apologize if you take it that way, as I do not ever mean it that way. I may not agree with you

While I still think some of my points are valid in a way that has nothing to do with Clara, and everything to do with weak writing, I actually take your point and concede that some of it was too nitpicky. I've even edited down some of my original post, while leaving other points as still valid to my opinion.

It happens and it can be messy.

Wasn't that dude one of the criminals Michael Keaton kicked through a door at the beginning of 1989's BATMAN?

Excellent scientific analysis! I seriously enjoyed reading that. :)

Agreed. That was RTD over-compensating for Eccleston's departure. It was obvious they were worried about introducing regeneration so soon into the revival. So, he just kept hammering away script-wise in hopes a repeated meme would condition the audience to nodding along. Doctor Who has done this a lot since 2005. Any
