As a BRZ and RX-8 owner, I too hate reliability!

Quick update: here’s the setup working with the gear shifter as well!

Ron Weasley wants his car back :P

Thanks! Yeah hopefully it'll look a bit more polished in the future too

Yeah it's super freaky in VR! But also insanely intuitive

Yeah, the firmware is written in C++ for this project. You can take a look at the code here:

Correct, your dash does indicate gear but it’s derived mathematically while driving using RPM and Vehicle Speed.

Said BRZ was had it's innards ripped apart when we tested it. So our other friend (the one in the driver seat in that video) let us use his Forester instead...which incidentally had the exact same signals as the BRZ

Force Feedback is actually in the works too:) I'm writing an extension for the firmware that converts feedback from the game into ABS and Electric Power Steering signals

Thank you!

Instead of a huge screen, it works even better (as is somehow more realistic) in VR. For some reason, your brain tricks you into feeling the braking and acceleration in a way I haven’t felt with a regular VR rigs.

Nish here, the clutch works but on a manual BRZ it doesn’t have a way of reporting gear. I’m building a workaround for the BRZ. On other cars you should be able to get reported gear directly from the CAN bus.

A quick correction: HERE Maps is actually co-owned by BMW, Volkswagen AG, and Mercedes. It used to be Navteq back in the day and still powers the map data in most cars infotainment systems and Garmin devices (also MapQuest!). When I worked there, we were also betting big on self driving cars and HD mapping so it’s no

There’s also these this weekend:

2 years ago, I was at Auto Club Speedway for a track day and decided to get coached. When I parked after my first session, my coach told me to put the car in gear as an alternative to leaving the car in neutral.
