Counterpoint.

I’m afraid to ask what she plans to do with that avocado.

I swear to god if 2016 takes one more goddamn thing away from me....

Canadian here. I thought Americans put their hands over their hearts for the anthem at sporting events? But what do I know, I barely watch sports.

Yesterday they did the medal ceremony for the three American women that swept the 100M hurdles - and none of them put their hand on their heart. Which, I thought to myself, they definitely planned that ahead of time to be in solidarity with Gabby, right? They had to have. lol

There’s a major racist element to it, but in fairness I was always taught that you do in fact put your hand over your heart while wearing a non-military uniform. So it’s common for sports teams, Boy Scouts, etc. but I don’t think it’s the law.

Well, they DID have a gun pulled on them as they were forced to hand over money. So I wouldn’t go so far as to say there wasn’t trauma - I’ve done some shady shot while drunk before and if a security guard speaking in a foreign language held me at gunpoint until I paid up for the shit I’d done I’d feel traumatized -

Obviously some shady stuff happened and it seems pretty clear that the group wasn’t robbed and are vandalizing and embarrassing representatives of the US team... BUT, I am getting really tired of people using the fact that they were smiling (and had wristwatches on) as proof they didn’t get robbed. People react

I follow Lochte on Snap and a day or two after this story first broke he posted a Snap of him on the airplane with a caption about him leaving for the U.S. It struck as me odd that he would be leaving so soon, I thought he’d stay for closing ceremonies. So METHINKS he was booking it because he anticipated this kind of

It is a shameful display of white male arrogance and for those who enable it - surprise, white male news/sports readers and writers. Those same fucks who were all over Gabby.. and cheered Phelps and he laughed and showboated during one of his own medal ceremonies! And now Ryan, sir pisser of gas stations, is still

I was a little on the fence about Twinja until then. What a dead giveaway of the hashtags you’re searching, I love it!

I liked take in the Washington Post;

Holy shit. Your own version 6 degrees to Ryan Lochte.

Funny story about this drama. I retweeted a post about white privilege in the treatment of Lochte’s case, comparing it in my own post to the framing of Michael Phelps’ DUIs. I’mFartNSmunny liked the post, and replied something about the “double standards” being applied, and #LochteGate. Mere seconds pass, and someone

It’s an entirely different thing to EMPLOY a raging asshole who promotes a rape culture on a show designed for women (who statistically speaking, will have a high percentage of rape survivors) and just simply having friendly feelings about someone who engages in hateful language online.

She’s getting skewered because she’s defending, complimenting, and employing someone acting like a gigantic piece of shit. She could have just not said anything, and avoided this whole thing, but she came out in favor of him, and people are rightfully upset at her for that.

The dude has plenty of “friends” who aren’t publicly sticking up for him, calling him a friend, calling him a talented writer, and employing him. She could just not have said *anything* and it wouldn’t have come down to it.

Did you read what he wrote? It was vile. And it’s not the first time he’s written something like that. I’d question the judgment and character of anyone who’d choose to remain friends with and publicly profess love for the writer of that tirade.
