Thanks for letting us know...just so everyone else knows why a topic that was submitted so long ago got picked. Readers have really stopped submitting entries and this is how far back I have to go to find a topic worth writing about.

I’m the guy who had the Outback! I submitted my info almost a year ago so you can all hear about how this ended!

Regarding the engine not needing to compress, those were literally the words from either the IIHS or the NHTSA when describing the outstanding frontal Tesla crash results. Not mine. I will see if I can find them.

The Model Y is as much of a SUV as a Volvo V60

Yes, I think the authorities immediately examined the car’s “black box” to determine that the driver either didn’t brake, sped up, and or deliberately steered (or didn’t) the car over the edge.

All things being equal, including the budget for engineering and construction, a larger vehicle has more crumple zones and a heavier vehicle is more likely to cause damage than receive it in an crash.

I think there are more than 20 make/models on the market. To me 17 out of all the make/models is dam good.

Sorry to hear that, but it sounds like you are already addressing it. Good for you and your siblings.

The Ford Ecosport out selling the Mazda3 has got to be the final confirmation needed that the end times are upon us.

So far police have not discussed a motive for the crash. Neighbors in their Pasadena community describe the family as “... a beautiful, idyllic family, no indication of issues,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

so I’m not really sure what the point you’re trying to make is.”

Now if they had one of these, they could have just drove it out again...I can make satire since the Wife and children are recovery ok yea?

In addition to being the wrong model, the fact that a smaller car ended up #17 with all the larger, heavier vehicles is pretty amazing.

Even assuming the Model 3 and Model Y safety ratings are directly applicable to each other, #17 out of top 20 highest safety ratings is still pretty damn good, so I’m not really sure what the point you’re trying to make is.

in the case of rollovers the Model Y is best in class thanks to physics. the issue with most SUVs and rollover is the raised center of gravity but with heavy batteries slung under the car and no engine at the front to tilt it the center of gravity in any EV SUV is far lower. you might actually have a better chance

Were they inside a Model 3 that was inside the Model Y that’s being reported on?

Road wear is proportional to weight raised to the fourth power! Doubling the weight of a vehicle results in a 16x increase in road wear.

An idiot acquaintance of mine lives in upstate NY; her husband is a Mustang guy (and makes bank growing pot) and bought her a giant crew cab pickup truck with all the bells and whistles so that she would be “safe”. She is constantly in fear while driving the thing. She came down to the city and was going to be the DD,

I switched from a Rav4 to a Sienna after having my second kid. I was so excited to have this PERFECT TOOL for my working-mom-of-2 life.

If nothing else there should be a weight tax. That translates directly into road maintenance costs independently of whether the vehicle emits smoke from the rear or not.
