Good choice. I was thinking a Tesla 3 RWD sounded like the perfect car if it only had a hatch. I've got the AWD with boost and it's so much fun to drive.

The Ford Edge is an incredibly underrated vehicle. Good to see it still alive.
Actually it’s much much worse than that. It’s an exponential curve.
I’d like to see both. Mini minivans and minivan Vans. Super boring and aerodynamic. With awd and extremely fast EV drivetrains.
Yeah, the EV cap of 55k on cars is ridiculous. Right now, it looks like it means you can get the subsidy on the bigger and heavier Model Y, but not on a smaller, lighter Model 3. The cap should be the same for all vehicles at the very least, if not lower for heavier ones.
Agreed. Tesla is the sole reason I have an EV now. If the 3 was any bigger, slower, heavier, or less fun to drive, I would be in another BMW or Audi ICE vehicle. As it is, I am very happy driving an EV now and can’t imagine going back.
The most obvious is tires. I always run good tires, and it was especially beneficial on my F30 335i which came stock with run-flats.
They fixed the door handle design eventually. SuperfastMatt has a great YouTube video about it. The original design wasn’t really different than what I would expect from a prototype (or something I would design myself). The new design is quite clever.
A friend from college did a great video on the Tesla door handles and how they significantly improved them, reducing the number of failure points. The funny thing is, I probably would have designed the door handle exactly like that first failure prone design as well (of course, I work exclusively in prototyping and…
Most cars will have sodium batteries. Only the fancier and more expensive cars will have lithium.
All about putting on a show for the investors. "Look, we aren't actually a dinosaur drifting in to obscurity!"
To me it feels like a stunt to appease investors who are (rightfully) upset that the company is not responding to the EV revolution with any urgency, or seriousness. It’s going to be interesting to see how much money they will have to borrow to buy up Rivian or Lucid later this decade to avoid drifting into…
I thought similar until I actually drove, and then bought one. Now I can't stand any other vehicle interior. Turns out, I actually don't like buttons and instrument clusters as much as I thought I did.
For me, I think the seats are my favorite part of the car along with the instant acceleration or deceleration. Wipers seems fine to me, but I rarely see rain/snow while driving in Colorado. I was wondering how you replace them tho. They really nestled them out of the wind for aero.
I really like the Tesla interior. Everything about it feels more upscale than my luxury line F30 335i. But especially the seats. The white vinyl looks and feels great and is so many magnitudes more comfortable, it will be difficult to ever go to a different car seat I think. The BMW Dakota leather was fine, but not…
I think you mean the average car enthusiast. The average consumer still thinks Toyota is significantly more reliable than any other car out there and wouldn’t notice panel gaps, misaligned panels and paint issues unless someone who looks for those things pointed them out. I’m not even sure I even know anyone else who…
Maybe look for a used 2021 at some point after prices settle down. Mine came out perfect and a couple friends cars were pretty close to it. All built earlier this year and come with all the 2021 updates.
My guess is that will come when they can actually get the inventory to do it. From what I hear, it's been a ridiculous wait for anything Tesla solar (especially the roof panels), even before Covid.
Autopilot functionality is the one valid complaint against Tesla. Build quality, reliability, etc is all quite good on my 3 and it drives like a big go-kart. Ridiculous fun. The adaptive cruise, however, sucks. It follows too close and brakes too late whenever traffic is slowing down and then it leaves way too big a…
What!? Another article searching for a way to trash Tesla and Musk? Sheesh. This site has a serious problem.
