CrossClimate are all weather tires, not dedicated winter tires. They’re a winterized summer tire. I stopped using Blizzaks because they’re slick as hell in the wet once temps rise a big ice freezing.

The other downside is they have a pretty substantial fuel efficiency/range impact. I really wanted them but I couldn't accept a 10% range reduction on an EV which already struggles in below zero for range.
I have the Pilot Sport All-Season 4s. This same channel tested them, and was shocked by just how much snow/cold grip they had compared to full-on winter tires.
I have Cross Climate 2s on my DD and they’re the best all-season/all-weather tires available. By a long shot. The tread pattern is specifically designed to channel water away and to allow snow to pack in to it like a true snow tire. Snow sticks to snow, so snow grip is absolutely great for a winter capable ‘summer’…
SO tired of black, white, silver and 50 shades of grey. I don’t expect day-glo colors from an OEM but they need more color options.
I have a light just outside my office that I have to turn left through every day. It is much safer to turn left when my light is red than when it’s green, so I run that red light every chance I get. It’s the only light I run, as I’m normally trying to set a good example and be a good bike citizen.
There is no redeeming this design.
My dealer gave me one of these as a loaner while my F80 M3 was being serviced.
$70k and it comes in glossy grey primer? Yeeeesh.
I’m a weirdo that cycles more than I drive most years. My initial reaction to this article is that it’s a bad idea, mainly because of the acceleration differences in cars and bikes, and many peoples assumption that overestimates their abilities. Add in observing how drivers habits have changed since cell phones became…
In NY, you are supposed to wait for the lights to go through a full cycle before you go, which works for turn lanes but not always for side streets where the light will never cycle without a car there. In any case, you tend to learn the ones around you pretty quickly and stop bothering to wait.
The solution to this problem is for more people to ride motorcycles.
Pennsylvania made it legal to run red lights if you’re too light to trigger the ground loop.
Oh I’m sure the comments on this will be just... ugh. but I’m gonna try anyway.
There’s a stoplight near my house that’s got some kind of trigger that my bike cannot make switch. Because it’s a side road to main road, the light just won’t change unless triggered. So as a cyclist, I have the option of waiting until a…
Rural mail carriers use private cars anyway. I really don’t understand why these aren’t electric, it is the perfect use case for it.
I wondered how UPS fared in MPG with their brown trucks, and I found a 20-year old report from the US Energy Administration that tested CNG-powered UPS trucks vs diesel. The CNG-powered trucks got 8.5mpg, while the diesel trucks got 12.
which begs the question: “Why the hell are these not EVs then?” it’s literally the perfect use case for EVs since idling does not waste energy like it does in an ICE.
If I had $120k for a car, I’d save another $30k and get a used Mclaren 570s...
718 can go to hell. C276 and Monel 400 FTW
