“I really wish these powerful women felt they could name their rapist and I dunno maybe help other women.”

That’s a reeeeally bad take...

Haha no worries, I’m just being overly dramatic LOL

I’m an essential worker who obviously works in person with the public each day. Because I must accept that risk, I minimize all other possibility for risk. That’s what the situation dictates. I do not shop in person, I do not eat in restaurants outside or otherwise, I do not go to the gym, I dye my own hair and wax

Thank you. I needed to see that others were as critical of this piece. Conflating people who are forced to work outside the home with people who choose to eat out regularly, not wear masks in public, or travel for large holiday gatherings is just plain silly.

Yeah, this article is clearly all about absolving themselves of behaviors that they know to be clearly wrong. Shaming people who flout guidelines designed to keep others from dying is 100% correct and justified. It is nothing like gossip. Blaming their bad behavior on the government not legislating morality? That’s

Yea, I’m not swayed by JEZEBEL.COM’s sudden swing toward anti-shame.

Yeah I’m pretty wtf about this.

I am gonna continue to name and shame the shit out of anyone I personally know who is being reckless in these darkest of times. If not for their own health, then for the health of anyone in their orbit.

This is not a great take.

People who are extra careful can get sick, just as those who are (or appear to be) careless might.”

Bro, you okay? Why are you pre-emptively angry with the imaginary people you imagine apologizing to for an imagined offense? Seems like something you should unpack.

Also.... some of us genuinely enjoy the winter. Cold? Dark? More solitude? I have a coat and a flashlight and will relish the time to catch up on crafts and projects.

As a kid who loved reading quietly in a family of TV-watchers, I would have LOVED separate living room/family rooms growing up. move those bookcases into the other room and make it a reading room!

Didn’t you know that only life in Manhattan matters since so many people live there?

I forgot the secret code to indicate sarcasm, sorry.

If you’re going to write in a sweeping way about how American culture plays out in our homes, it reaaaally needs to not be this solipsistically focused on people who live in Manhattan. You realize that “people who have moved out of the city or never lived in one” is. . .a LOT of people right? And your statement also

Why is it confusing that different people will have different sleep preferences?

What is confusing about it? I prefer sleeping alone but I don’t find it confusing if other people prefer sleeping with a partner. Different people like different things.

I don’t think it suggests that anyone SHOULD abandon goodreads, only that that there are alternatives.  Personally, I ditched goodreads when it started to lose focus a little bit, so it’s nice to see a few alternatives that provide the original functionality that drew me in in the first place.
