I think they’re referring to Patton because Michelle wasn’t that well known outside true crime drama enthusiasts? If they mention she was his wife, that gives a point of reference, as a lot of people know of him, and remember hearing of Michelle’s passing.

The only photos of Michelle we have rights to are of her alongside Patton. So it was either a close, awkward crop, or something resembling the one I used, which I think is actually sort of sweet—especially because he has continued her work.

It seems entirely possible that the NYT was biased against Clinton and that Clinton’s aides were sexist assholes to female reporters from the NYT. I’m not sure what the tapes are supposed to show unless he recorded every single interaction he had with Chozick.

A talented disfuctional drug addicted is better than whatever shot Theeze Hoez were fighting over.

I have a feeling there’s a great book to be written on the cultural forces shaping Gen X and how they were different from what came before and what followed after. The VCR was crucial in making adult-oriented movies available to kids and teens of that generation when they hadn’t been before. And the parents of Xers

I don’t think she could live long enough to get talented enough to put out a Live Through This.

It makes me wonder if this is an area where much research has been done: what is it that can make a given movie terrifying to one person and have almost no effect on somebody else?
Something related: possibly the most iconic death in the original Nightmare On Elm Street is when Johnny Depp’s character is sucked into

3) My biggest issue: How does this solve the problem? It’s treating the symptoms and not addressing the actual problem! Why are these people in poverty?

Some attempts to shame are so poorly thought out. It would be like telling me Donald Trump personally hates me, I would be downright glad. If she really wanted to hurt him she could say he made baby Jesus cry.

Which is ironic because she’s only sitting where she is today because of her father. No one would ever hire her if she was Jane Doe.

her father is basically dying, yet she’s spending her time shit-stirring and spreading GOP disinformation on daytime tv.

But what would Andrew Jackson think of this?

That dude was not Kurt Cobain, and Cashmeoutt might be a train wreck, but she is no Courtney Love.

I suspect that may have been because the government specifically earmarked money to be used for a specific product, which sent a signal to the supplier. After all, there was no risk that the $20 could be use for a substitute product; it HAD to be used for a specific thing. If you just give people enough cash for them

If anything, Hoover would be disappointed that Comey didn’t abuse his power hard enough.

J Edgar Hoover, the guy who tried to get Martin Luther King, Jr. to commit suicide? Yeah, I would hate for him to disapprove of me.

I agree with you, however I think we would also need some sort of educational program to teach some people that are in poverty how to effectively manage their finances. This is obviously antidotal, but I know one lady who had 3 children. One child had a son and he came to stay with his Grandmother (the lady I know)

Not for nothing, but in my day when two singers got in a fight at a festival they were headlining and it was over Kurt Cobain.

I will volunteer my mother to teach them crafts so they can have productive hobbies.

Okay but actually where are her parents? I might just be old and out of it (I mean, I definitely am), but this seems like in the realm of justifying involving CPS. It’s probably too late for the teenagers but can we send Lil Tay to live on a farm in Vermont with stern parental figures and no internet for a few years?
