The people that knew about Nassar and Sandusky are administrators and leaders at the top of their professions. They chose to allow rape and abuse.

Compared to everything else this is so trivial as not to matter at all, but like half of my winter clothes are MSU branded, and I can’t even think to wear that shit until everyone involved in this catastrophe are gone.

I also meant to add no 3rd-party witness. Proper protocol for the procedure he was claiming to be doing is to have a 3rd party present.

She *is* the judge these courageous young women deserved.

She’s a naturalized citizen and a 20 year National Guard veteran.

is it wrong to want him to survive the 175 years, be released, and then immediately be hit by a truck, and then backed over by said truck, and run over again?

Was he representing himself? What kind of lawyer would read that and say, “Yep, looks good. Need a stamp?”

Yea and his pleas to not be forced to sit through their testimonies and statements just screams “I know exactly what I did.” Vile. Just a vile person.

Damn, THAT’S who I’ve been trying to figure out who he reminds me of.

This fucking guy. I love the judge; we need more like her at all levels...she makes me think of Ginsburg with that level of firebrand and refusal to accept accolades. It’s wonderful to see a judge finally giving victims of sexual assault some real, tangible justice.

You think it’s a bad thing to acknowledge that sexual abuse victims were vulnerable? What a fucked up position to take. Kinda seems like you’re just looking for reasons to hate on the judge.

They can specify “life without parole” but without that last bit, parole becomes a possibility because time can be lopped off for good behavior, some systems give extra credit for each year served, and parole can often be requested at a halfway point — for example, that 40 year sentence? He could probably ask for

The thing I noticed is people seemed to be aware he was doing medical exams without gloves. Even if he hadn’t been a serial predator that alone should have gotten him fired.

Michigan is the only state to never have the death penalty. She was speaking figuratively.

Because if one or several of the charges end up overturned (or lessened) on appeal he’s still got the rest hanging around his neck like a noose. I.E. in a hypothetical scenario where someone is sentenced to 3 consecutive life sentences, if for some reason 2 of those end up overturned there’d still be 1 life sentence

I mean, the judge in the Stanford swimmer rape judge let the culprit off easy. That’s why they’re judges – they get quite a bit of leeway in sentencing (leeway that has legal bounds but is still largely subjective).

“You do not deserve to walk outside a prison again,” she added. “I just signed your death warrant.”

This is the hill you choose to fight on??

Before we all rush to judgment about Lou Anna Simon, let’s not forget that she has done amazing things for MSU. She got a lot of donations for their basketball arena, for god’s sake!

That’s all very nice. Now let’s turn our eyes to the people who aided and abetted him all of these years. MSU, we turn our lonely eyes to you.
