When it’s bad I do random subtraction problems. Choose an arbitrary starting number and then subtract by 7 or 3, usually, until I reach zero. If I lose focus or forget where I am I’ll start over.  All about the distraction from the anxiety that is keeping me awake.

Two actually.  My Dad’s 1985 4Runner SR5.  So much regret.  He also picked up a 1985 Xtra Cab 4x4.  That would’ve been a good one to hold onto as well.

There are a couple of C4Vettes in similar condition at a house in Stillwater, OK. I’ll try to get a picture sometime when I am by there. They also have a 4 Gen Camaro SS in similar deteriorating condition.

Solid post!  I wish I could give you more stars!  Stay safe out there!

No shame in knowing your limits and consulting an expert. My 2 go to “experts” are the exhaust guy and the air conditioning guy. Just not stuff I can do on my own in a timely manner, I want it to work the first time, and not  cause further problems!

Not sure if this will work for you application but I have had good luck using them for an exhaust stud and a clutch slave cylinder when I screwed them up. Different kits but each is still holding. http://www.timesert.com/

Can confirm the 1985 4Runner with the 22RE is really really good. Dad wanted a grey with grey interior but they were in such high demand that when “his” came in it was the cream with brown interior. He was unhappy and inquired when the combo he ordered might arrive? He was told take the one on hand or wait another

I guess I got the old car I can fix it from my Dad. We didn’t exactly have the money to pay someone else to fix it so he or my grandpa would figure it out. Now my wife and friends know me as the guy that works on old Toyota or two along with a 1967 Bronco project.

Was sitting at a 4 way stop on a two lane paved road just out of town. Looked right and before I could turn my head and finish looking left a full sized 2500 GMC pulling a trailer blew through the stop sign so fast I didn’t even have time to finish turning my head and say “What the f***!”  Called that guy in because

I hope you get it fixed before you have to defrost or more importantly de-fog your windshield.  When I couldn’t see that’s what convinced me to climb in and replace my heater core in my truck.  Fix that switch, bypass as you said.

Finished the year with more in savings than I have in a long time!

A stock unmodified/unmolested vehicle is almost always better in every way.

Agreed that this can be a problem. This truck has spent its whole life in Oklahoma (so far). It was bought by my Dad in 82 and spent a large portion of its life being parked in the garage after it was driven. If it was driven on icy roads it was taken to the car wash as soon as possible.  Mom drove it a bunch during

This just might be the impetus I need to dive into my 1982 Toyota 4x4 truck bed rust issue.  It can be overcome.

I voted NP only because I missed out on one from my Uncle when the wife said “no.” I take great pain in reminding her of the increasing/rising desirability and coolness of these particular cars.

1989 Brand new Chrysler New Yorker. My Dad surprised my Mom but the real surprise was how little we got to drive it and how much it was in the shop.

My direct experience with “Mission Creep” is my 1967 Bronco barn find. It started much the same as the Golden Eagle, in that hey a simple put everything back together, wire everything back up, give that big, beautiful, 351 Windsor some fresh oil and minimal parts and run this sucker! Boom I get to the point of

1985 Toyota SR5 4x4 extended cab. My Dad was looking around to help me find a replacement fir my wrecked and waiting to be repaired 1982 Toyota 4x4. He found the 1985 and got into a bit of an excited bidding war (for sure out of character for him) with another guy, he wins. He pulls up at the house and informs me I

1995 4Runner V6, that the gas tank was more of a water tank. Still fighting the gas tank rust battle...
