All due respect, bu I’m pretty sure that is complete nonsense. The “feeling of being suffocated” is a result of oxygen deprivation — not the presence of CO2 (or other gases) in the lungs. You would not fall asleep, you would lose consciousness in an exceedingly traumatic manner.
