WHY? Because its a WSJ article and it has more to do with stock prices than actual technology. What its doing here is beyond me.

Giz, if you're going to quote a WSJ article, would it kill you you to correct the blatant errors. The whole premise of the article is that Apple is based on syncing while Google and Amazon are based on streaming.
My four year old still occasionally wants to play with her LeapFrog console even though we have an iPod Touch and a Xoom in the apartment that she goes to far more often. The games aren't that great but still fun every once in a while.
The idea of an android home phone isn't bad, but that just looks like a mobile phone in a docking station. If its going to be a stay at home device then there's no reason it can't be home phone sized, especially given the price.
ReadyNAS used to be my favorite pre-Netgear but there's been much more competition since they got bought out. Their 2 drive products are basically Netgear cashing in on the goodwill of the ReadyNAS name without offering anything special while the 4+ boxes do have great features but are much more expensive than…
They don't provide a storage limit but the software they are using is PlaysAnywhere which leads me to believe that this is little more than a third rate version of Subsonic or Audiogalaxy. Probably no actual cloud storage as you'll have to leave a computer on for it work and with Best Buy's software serving songs back…
Phone Locator looks suspiciously like SeekDroid. Not really a fan of apps with minimal reviews that mimic the look of much more popular apps, especially when it comes to security features.
That cooling cap looks fantastic. When I get migraines an ice pack is about the only thing that will let me fall asleep, although they do not stay at a useful temperature long.
There's the Chillow which has a layer of cold water trapped inside foam that you stick inside a pillow, but it doesn't always last the whole night.
Amazon is mainly a problem on my Xoom, it looks great but is very buggy.
Amazon: Too glitchy to be general purpose. Most of my music purchases are from Amazon so it does get some use but streaming takes a while to settle down and is skip prone (at least on Android).
The Subsonic server can be a bit of a memory hog but when you get used to it, its hard to switch to anything else. While it may not have the flashiest mobile interface, its playlist handling is excellent, especially the way it handles caching of songs to be played.
I think that B&W has occasionally introduced monitor size speakers in between its high end and mid range speaker lines before. Its something its competitors have a habit of doing. I hadn't looked at the mid range lineup in a while, doesn't seem like they have really done anything with it in a decade. From what I…
For me the difference between high bitrate lossy and lossless isn't significant enough to matter for most listening situations. Lower bitrate lossy often doesn't sound as good although it depends on the source material and the background conditions.
I made the mistake of using a bottle of expired sunscreen at the start of the summer once. I will never make that mistake again. Days of agony. I think the lotion must've been completely ineffective because I had burns bad enough that even slight heat years later can still trigger twinges.
This brings me back to high school chemistry. Build a still in the middle of class and make apple brandy. That was a teacher who knew how to get the kids attention.
Munitions loading robot?
I haven't used Audiogalaxy but Subsonic which has a similar service has worked very well for me. The caveats with Subsonic are that its primarily folder based rather than tag based as far as organization structure goes and if you are running Windows you have to use local storage for you music rather than network…
Titanium Backup has a pretty great UI actually considering its dealing with fairly low level app management that has a lot of ugly but important data that needs to be parsed. Its very easy to get to where you need to go, do what you need to do and see the information you need. Most of the time the functionality is…
