I do think it’s a weird expectations game. If you can rely on the woman to be the clingy, needy one, then you’re able to play the aloof, cool guy. If she turns it around on you, I think a lot of guys don’t know where their footing is at anymore.

This has been my experience too. It was actually extremely surprising to me when I was in my early 20s. Every one of the one-night-stands I had (admittedly, not a ton, less than 5) turned into the guy wanting a relationship.
