Exactly. I've nearly completely stopped updating on FB because it is such a pain in the ass to exclude certain people from updates. My grandma doesn't give a shit about my diatribes on web standards and only my wife cares about pictures of our cat.

Consider it a feature. I don't actually want all of my facebook friends on G+. All the services are geared towards actually communicating with people you like, rather than passively observing the lives of people you knew in grade school.
