Isn't that what kids were for? Oh crap, I'm screwed.

It's the attitude that's the gadget? You can pick it up, put it down, twiddle the knobs and get a different experience, etc.
You can look at it that way and be correct, but service marketing and development for products doesn't take that tack. It defines the service received by a customer as the so-called product, and the "carrier" or tangible manifestation of that service is secondary (thought it's what everyone sees.)
"Turns in the barrel" are a recurring situation in life, I think. Apple will get a new one when they forget how they got to where they are or can't adapt, like in the 90's.
My boss was on a team of exec's that were evaluating Apple for an acquisition at the time. Gone for a month, he came back utterly perplexed how things got so messed up. Business wise, they were doing all the right things they teach in MBA and engineering school, forecasts, scheduling, project management, etc. And…
And who was plunging Apple into failure before Steve? A visionary-less CEO type, Scully.
Case studies teach. Both positive "do it this way" or negative "don't do it this way". Not that we need to do that here, but every now and again I see a terrific piece of information on this comment list that totally changes my perception of an event/time.
I'm with you. If you ask someone if they agree with the statement "Growth is good." you'll almost always get a positive response. It's a meme that continuously shapes our expectations and what we do. That doesn't make it correct.
Scientist/engineer habit. Think of it as a Nerd Diary.
I think you've got it right, there, along with the commenter about going deeper, not wider. It's not sexy, it's not glamorous and it sure as hell isn't common across companies. Good management is hard to fit into sound bite sizes where "they don't do anything new" and "it's the marketing" and "patent attack"…
Re: Cap gains at 15% for reinvestment: And the corporate balance sheets have never been more rich because they aren't reinvesting. So much for that.
I think there's a story or development arc on voice control that extends beyond where we are today.
I had missed the W for some reason and tbought T was Talk, but that's why I spelled it out in my response so I wouldn't be DYJLTWA. Heh.
This youtube has a nice graphic to explain the thing above. (Edit - already included below)
How about in rocks, like the "16-bit ALU in minecraft" video on youtube?
Sorry - 80's window system leftovers. Do What I Mean (and) Not What I Say was picked up from the credo of the Sun windows guys. I'm already more efficient because of your comments reminding me about how shit works (but it doesn't change the fact that the inherent function of galleries still sux which I reserve the…
Point. Lazy I guess. I just want it to DWIM and NWIS.
Silly? You missed the point I was making. I don't believe that they have anything at all. I don't believe that particles go faster than light. I'm just saying that I allow that they may be true, and I'm not going to make up a story calling "bullsh*t" just because of what I think I know, because, I don't…
Agreed. I wish that the Back button would work correctly from the beginning (leaving the post) or that the chosen UI of the Back function cycling each picture backwards would change. I sometimes get so frustrated I just reload the home page and scroll down to where I was. It always makes me feel stoopid to do that,…
Yeah - like particles going faster than light? That sure does deviate from standard physics.
