Nicely said. You don't have to be a fan, but there's no way to not respect the man.

Unclear if he's been steadily grooming a replacement, or if he's been grooming the *culture* so that whoever comes in inherits an environment that gets them to "think different", especially if it's different from the Stanford MBA type brainwashing. (No offense to Stanford MBA's personally.)

Back in the 60's there was military waste water being pumped into a minor fault around Denver, lubricating the fault. So there'd be infrequent but regular 1-2 magnitude earthquakes. It was deemed this was a nuisance, so the practice was forbidden.

Nah - you still got it. Imagine going to class to increase awareness and actually having it work so that there's *no way* your mind can rationalize it except to accept that it doesn't have a clue how it happened (at a minimum.) It's very .. strange.

I just have one word for you. "Implants." And, oh, by the way, your partner is going to *love it*.

'zactly. Relatives used to read the catalog of bulls (pics, stats, prices) and one shot (a tiny vial) from some of the top performers ran over $100, and that was 20 years ago.

Kid comes back from college, dad tells him to say something smart. Kid says, "pi R squared."

Being in Hawaii, he'll have to call every store within 2700 miles, and probably still can't find any.

Hot is in the eyes of the beholder, and given the predilection of gadget happy folks towards innovation and unique design, I suspect they aren't looking for incremental improvement (great as that might be) but unique and new experiences. I suppose I could factor in the distraction factor here, where new and unique is

Ya know what's makes no sense - with 30 minutes of knife work, some standing dead dry wood (which looks highly available from the environment in the video) you could have a two man U-drill or one man bow drill (or barring no cordage, a hand drill) and have a pretty secure source of fire without the ice hoo-ha.

Agreed with GitEm - in that environment, there'd be no problem finding suitable dry tinder ready to go with a single match.

>"...that usually means they can't think for themselves and hate anybody with the wrong label."

You haven't been paying attention, me thinks. I think he's been a dickhead since the early 90's. A brilliant dickhead, mind you. Of course, that doesn't stop me from respecting his accomplishments.

Robots grow the food. Robots transport the food. What could go wrong?

I just changed over to this from unlimited with no data plan to Unlimited Texting (which *includes* unlimited mobile to mobile [any carrier]), 450 land line minutes, and a 2 gig data plan for about $5 over what I was paying before.

>America used to be this way, and slowly changed.

>then why on earth aren't more farmers switching to organic farming?

Yah know all those SF flicks with the organic spaceships? Those shape concepts come from someplace right local to your plate. I don't mean to say that they aren't "other worldly", as you already noted.

I had 3 boys. My brother had 2 boys. Our father had 2 boys. His father had 1 boy. His father had 3 boys. (You get the picture.)

Yeah. In the food / beverage business, the experience of the user is what matters. Taste of the food is just one component of that experience.
