It’s a fine distinction, but these weren’t shown during ad spots, they were presented as part of the show itself: introduced by presenters from the stage, as opposed to “we’ll be right back” and then cut to an ad which happens to be an ad for a movie.

The Muppets did a Lipton commercial (the one where the meme comes from) that was essentially promoting Muppets Most Wanted that aired during the 2014 Oscars. But I guess it was more of a Lipton ad than a movie promotion (which was only mentioned at the very end), so I guess there’s loopholes or things have changed…

I think you’re right about Usnavi being the only Dominican. Not too sure on Abuela Claudia, but Benny is the only non-Latin principal in the play, so it makes sense he’d be the only non-Latin principal in the movie.

I liked the fact that they showed trailers for two movies during the Oscars, and both movies are about Puerto Ricans singing and dancing in New York.

Maybe “The Ruins”? It’s a horror movie with an interesting premise and okay execution that I watched a few years ago. From what I remember, his character was a standard heroic guy in a horror movie type without any quirky traits.

The Bea Arthur song is great! The Holiday Special has a lot of crap, pretty much everything directly involving the horrible Wookies, but the variety show bits run from puzzling to amusing to actually good. Korman’s Alien Julia Child is another highlight.
