If the original poster can make blanket statements like any Dem can beat any GOP anywhere, why can’t I make blanket statements about certain segments of the United States, based on historical voting data?

The original poster said that any Dem will beat any GOP anywhere by hammering on abortion rights. It’s not true. There are populations that no Dem will ever have a chance of winning.

Serious question, have you lived in Bible Belt? Because what you’re stating is absolute nonsense. There’s plenty of places in this country that will vote against pro-choice candidates all day, every day. How else do you explain people like Marjorie Taylor Green or Matt Gaetz?

OMG YES! The Queen Mary, thank you. I’m a little obsessed. I am so planning a trip here one day. Not that I plan to see anything, but I still desperately want to visit and stay a night. 😊 How interesting that you saw the little girl. Oddly, there’s no record of her in the history books of the place, yet people claim

A friend of mine was going through a messy divorce with an unstable ex and didn’t have a lockable garage door. He used that minimal access to play mind games with her and their kids. Sorry this happened to you, and so glad you’re out of that relationship.

[TW: Domestic violence]

Wow, ‘lightly’ haunted hey. LOL. But that last one though, damn. That’s incredible. What an experience!

I would absolutely leave it at that if two strangers said this kind of stuff to me. I’d be booking my ass as fast and as far away as I could get from both of them.

No joke, the thought of it sometimes keeps me up at night. Just the idea of it reciting the names.

These are tremendous one paragraph stories.

I used to live in Reno and sure do recognize that quality of Twilight darkness in that region of the Eastern Sierras. When the sun starts to go down and it’s during the Fall/Winter, it’s a heavy type of cold and blackness. Also your actual encounter, your instincts were correct to haul ass and get away from that

Two short stories - both told to me by the folks it happened to in NYC, and for some reason I found super creepy.

1 - My friend “Mickey” had some time to kill one afternoon so he went into a well known midtown Irish pub for a pint of Guinness (or 2 or 3). As he is leaving the bar, he notices a disheveled older guy

In 2021 when the country started to open up, I got a job offer and a nice moving package and so I ended up living in an AirBnb for four months while my husband stayed back to sell our house. The rental was a townhome built in 1784, so old and sparsely remodeled that you could still see the outline of a bricked up

[I heard this story multiple times, directly from the source--I don’t even remember everything about it, but the part I do remains one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever heard, and I will still think of it from time to time and get a little freaked out]

If this seems familiar, I submitted too late in the past and got stuck in the greys.

Well my story is just scary and might be spooky too. I have read Jezebel for a long time as a man who loves all of the authors who have permeated these Jezebel halls since I started reading the original Deadspin and Gizmodo iterations.

The summer I turned 15, my dad moved the family to Alaska to satisfy his craving for solitude and unspoiled nature. Our rental house was in a pretty spot on top of a hill, but was really isolated. We’re talking a 30+ minute drive from town, steep dirt road most of the way, with no neighbors around for a couple miles.

The summer before Covid I was part of a field research project that required us to camp in a quiet California state park. Our campsite was about two hundred yards from the toilets, and the women would wait for daylight to run to the loos or go in pairs after dark.

Can’t remember if I submitted this one previously.
