It’s not at all surprising that she would look to a (perceived)  simpler time after what must have been a very traumatic incident. I would say that these photos look more like late 70's and early 80's than 1989 but, as the article says, it really isn’t about a specific year. These photos make me feel nostalgic as well

I am the world’s biggest Gaga fan. I’ve seen her live 11 times and after her upcoming tour it will be 14 times. I’ve been there since her first live television performance in the US. And I am so, so happy for her right now. She is slaying the game so hard. This almost makes me want to go to Coachella.

Yaassss Queen!

My favorite moment was when Scheana was all “What, are you going to clean out my bank account?” to Shay, he responds “Maybe?”... but then actually that’s what he did.

i like the song. i love the video. ready for you, ldr.

That Courtney-killed-Kurt conspiracy theory just needs to die, once and for all. Regardless of how you feel about Courtney, it’s not only insensitive (think about how that must make Frances feel too), it’s just bizarre and creepy. It’s been over 20 years and there is still no real evidence to verify any of that. It’s

Thanks, Obama.

Karrueche’s dress wasn’t even that bad IMO. Sure it’s very ‘80s prom, it’s tacky, but there were some real monstrosities there.

I’m spending tonight crying. I hate the fucking holidays. I hate my fucking inlaws. The only person I have in the world is doing tech for the Nutcracker all weekend. Gone for 16 hours a day all last week, all this week, all next week. And what does he want to do with the money? Buy me a nice Christmas present. And I

I don’t think anyone is saying that they should be ‘automatically taken care of’. With housing and rental cost of everything in the bay, there are few ways (in my understanding) to have events like this without have a ton of money. Few activists and artists, especially in this scene, have that kind of money.

This is tragic on so many levels, but I know there are other warehouses in the bay that do take steps to keep tenants and artist studios as safe as possible. In my understanding, Derrick Almena was not that - ignored warning after warning.

- Residents were aware of fire safety and weren’t allowed to have candles on the premises. Not sure where that came from since it had nothing to do with the origin of the fire, but since that’s apparently a thing for you.

Gentrification & high rents did NOT force a warehouse’s denizens to build particle-board steps, not maintain fire exits, leave imprudent flames burning, have haphazard wiring, etc. That is just the style of that kind of place. That is just how these scenes roll. Shit, most of us who spent any amount of time in

I’ve kept an eye out for a Jez post about this, thank you. I’ve been heartbroken ever since I heard the news. I’ve spent a lot of time throughout my youth attending shows and parties at places like this. DIY art and music spaces are such a vital part of the art community, as well as a safe haven for all different

This breaks my heart, and I hope if ANY good is to come from this tragedy, it is that we MUST support artists. That means giving them venues to perform in and providing subsidized artist housing. Also, fuck gentrification.
