A helpful post but this part confused me... “Remember, if the point of a mask is to catch respiratory droplets, then a mask that has been worn is now full of (and very probably soaked with) those droplets.”

The first part of the sentence, that the mask is to catch droplets... does that mean from the wearer’s own

Imagine how many lives would be saved if Stacey Abrams hadn’t been cheated out of being Georgia’s governor?

Sure, I too would prefer a long list all on one page, but the content itself was great (and will lead me to check out some new, well new to me, shows).

I re-read what you wrote and it certainly reads as if you yourself disapprove of artists who try to mix things up as well as disliking the critics who support them when they do it.

Satire?

I think it’s likely your tastes have gotten more sophisticated and his lyrics have gotten lazier. That’s at least how I feel when I listen to the newer songs. (And I liked a lot of the last album, but not because it had memorable lyrics.)

I think it’s their last ambitious album. But “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” is still really strong despite it being less original, and from then on (for me) there’s been lots of good songs on uneven albums.

I thought Pop was fantastic and it was a bummer it didn’t sell as well as the previous albums, as it caused U2 to retreat to a more familiar sound and play it too safe ever since (and Rolling Stone actually gave it four stars at the time, which seems right to me.) It was a fun tour as well.

You don’t want musicians to be ambitious? So for you The Beatles should’ve kept doing what they did on “Meet the Beatles” forever? Dr. Dre should’ve just kept making albums in the production style of “Straight Outta Compton” but never aimed for the heights of “The Chronic”? There’s thousands more examples. What an odd

Yes, having Sean Penn on this panel was dumb. I still don’t see what was wrong with the “Imagine” video. It was a group of people with a huge platform trying to comfort people in a crisis. Which seems kind, not hubristic to me, but Twitter ripped them to shreds.

“Good for them—I think?”

So why were Dahj, and Soji sent out into the greater universe? To discover the what’s behind Romulan plot to kill synths?

I’d say it’s not great, but it is good. And probably will be more enjoyable as a binged show, as you won’t take too long to nitpick the problems if you can go straight to the next one. It’s a solid “B” for me with a few episodes that rise above that (and maybe one or two below that.)

Without the warm nostalgia feelings

How dare people with a giant audience try to do something heartwarming to bring people together during a worldwide crisis? The nerve!

The New York magazine piece might be a bit much for you, but if it scares some into being more careful in a time of international crisis, not sure the harm.

Is part of the article missing? Where does it go into how it didn’t go over well?

The Many Lives of Moira X” (House of X #2) is probably my favorite issue of any comic of the last decade.

I’d like them to give him a small corner of the Marvel Universe where he could get weird on TV. Like FOX studios did with Noah Hawley when they let him play with Legion.

Even if you go into lockdown the grocery stores and pharmacies will almost certainly be open. They still are in Italy. People need to be able to get supplies and there’s no reason to close ‘em anytime soon.
