I appreciate he didn’t say “if anyone found my comments hurtful and divisive. I profoundly apologize.” but instead stated that they were indeed hurtful and divisive, no question about it. It’s not at all up to me to accept his apology, but I am glad he made this statement.

Oh I have no idea how they’re being ranked in real life, I thought this was all hypotheticals. It felt like whataboutism that the original poster was saying “how come it’s okay for women to rate the Chris’s but it’s not okay for the dudes at this high school to rate their classmates?”

I don’t believe I attributed their success to purely superficial reasons. I said it was part of why they are famous. It’s okay to admit that part of their appeal as matinee idols is their looks. Audiences tend to be enjoy watching traditionally great-looking people on-screen. It’s not the only type audiences enjoy,

Good point.

The Chris’s are public figures who are in-part famous because they are super attractive. They are not fellow teen classmates and close friends judging your body and sharing that judgment with one another.

Your theory is likely more on target but I like the idea that Disney (the Marvel department) was making a “Captain Marvel” movie, so Warner Bros. was like “Don’t we have a Captain Marvel?” And Shazam! we got “Shazam!” And then Disney was like, “Wait, Warner Bros. is brining back a property first seen in theaters in

Elizabeth Gilbert was a successful journalist and writer before she got that big advance. And she wisely came up with a commercial idea that paid for her travels.

Do you think readers really thought a working-class adult could afford to travel around the world like that? I thought her being able to travel around the world and meet dudes from all over after a bad break-up was all part of what made it so popular. She got to do what her readers fantasized they could. But then

Mueller’s report did not exonerate Trump of the obstruction charge. Barr’s summary of the report did that.

I have to track that down.  Thanks for the tip!

The story I feel is being missed:

The story I feel is being missed:

The news is that Trump’s pick for AG, who wrote a 19 page memo before Trump chose him for the job that was all about how there was no obstruction, interpreted the Mueller report in ways that are incredibly favorable to Trump. Not shocking but news Barr went ahead and did it so brazenly.

Good piece, but I wanted to make two notes. In your listing of the types of therapists you left out Marriage and Family Therapists, who are super common on the west coast. Despite the name of the title, they see individuals (whether married or not) as well as couples and families. For depression, anxiety, etc. just

The Daily Show from day one would mean 2 and a half years of Craig Kilborn.  Yikes!  I suppose if you could just get the early Colbert bits from that period it could be okay, but still, pretty painful stuff.

I just went down a Wikipedia hole reading about Perry and the forced Opening of Japan. Thanks for the heads up!

About them forgetting their history? Definitely just kidding. But am also a little surprised no bands from the 90s that are still around in a big nostalgic rock show (say Pearl Jam or Foo Fighters, or Green Day.)

Well, that’s good to forget of course. But it’s all new bands and 60s bands. No Gen-X love at all!

From the line-up it doesn’t look like anyone from 1994 or 1999 (other than old timers who were also at 1969) are at this one.  Woodstock is forgetting it’s history, man!  (Thought Green Day or the Chili Peppers might make the cut.)

This is amazing.  Thanks!
