A “Free Jeep” is only free to acquire. Nothing about that POS is going to be free to make it usable. And after spending money and time to make it usable, you’ll still have a rusty POS. The correct answer was “pass, thank you”.

I was hoping they would have fitted a CVCC system. Even though it wouldn’t have fit with the period-correctness; it would have been a cool call back to when Soichiro Honda designed a system for a 1973 Impala to disprove GM’s CEO’s assertion that the system wouldn’t work on larger engines.

Everything is too corporate-backed and scientifically tested at the high end of motorsport anymore to see wild guesses at new tech like we did back in the day. Regulations are too tight to allow creative freedom on that level, but maybe we will see it in more grassroots forms of motorsport like time attack.

Except for the fact he’s barely able to manage with hundreds of hours of free labor, the best information retrieval system the world has ever seen, an incredibly complex delivery system, worldwide air transport, and a chase vehicle with two mechanics.

The bottom line is that partial self-driving cars should not be legal. Either the car should be able to drive itself, completely, with no human intervention beyond “I want to go here,” or it should not have “autopilot” features beyond cruise control.

—and after a new, last-minute requirement by Jalop boss Patrick George to have the vehicle inspected by a certified mechanic—

Sealing the tank by looping hoses between the vents is a *bad idea*.

Assuming the tank is now sealed, it will pressurize itself. It will then attempt to push gasoline out through the fuel pump pickup (the lowest available outlet). This will cause fuel leaks when not running and rich run when under way.

If you don’t want

David is a smart dude and could write about all sorts of stuff and id happily read that stuff. But being intentionally dumb about time/money/conditions of vehicles and driving unsafe pos across country is a highly selfish and narcissistic thing to do.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but you are thoroughly fucked.

Not to be overly callous, but you got yourself into this. Maybe you’ll finally learn a lesson about driving outrageously flimsy, borderline deadly rust buckets with only the vaguest attempts at making them roadworthy?

So you’re looking for someone with a flatbed or just donations to rent one ?

Jeez, it’s too bad you don’t have another Jeep that you could press into service in a pinch. You should think about buying a spare.

David, I’m all for wacky adventures.

My concern/outrage is not because of what china has done, but my fear of it eventually spreading to the US.

BuT THe lEfT!

You’re still not right. And he’s not right either. Authoritarianism has nothing to do with socialism or conservatism. It’s a style of government that has equal opportunity to be conservative or progressive on social issues as well as socialist or capitalist on economic issues.

Coming in to see the faux outrage from US citizens about what’s happening in China while having nothing to say about what’s happening here at home.

I have several Millennial friends that feel we need to adopt this same system.
