Multiple Batteries and motors are major powertrain rebuilds on a EV

Now playing

I drove a Corolla to 384,000 miles then got weary of the worn out interior. It was on original engine and transmission. Burned a little oil.

He got a bunch of motor replacements before they finally fixed the bearing problem. So the "fixed" motor has lasted longer than all the rest did.

The early model S motors has steel bearings instead of ceramic. Magnetic flux eats steel balls because the balls have a slight electrical charge and that has material transfer. I wonder if they are not updating the old motors to the newer ceramic bearings. Or maybe that’s just how long they last.

My mom’s 2000 Expedition and 2011 Explorer both made it to around 300k with the original engine and trans before she sold them. The Expedition only had an alternator replaced late in its life.

I’d actually say most modern cars can make it 200k.  My Ford C-Max has 245k miles on it right now, and has been the most economical car I’ve ever delivered in.

Every Japanese car I’ve owned made it for over 200,000 miles. I didn’t even buy most of them until they had 100k on them. Unless you don’t believe in oil changes or scheduled maintenance (or live in a rust belt) any Toyota/Honda/Nissan from the mid 90s and up should make it to 200k miles. Cars don’t last, by and

My 2000 Celica GT-S went 384,000 miles and ran like new for 20 years until a deer killed it. All I had to do was change the oil often and take good care of it. Was only on its second clutch too.  But mostly I think too many cars are unloved and neglected.

It’s a joke

Hundreds of thousands of redblock-equipped Volvos would beg to differ. As do their whiteblock successors.

The only reason to have 14 motors in 10 years is Tesla built a shitty motor to begin with.

Pretty sure he flips on autopilot and naps for a few hours.

Doesn’t change the fact that 14 motors means there’s something fundamentally wrong with the motors.

Can we call it BBL Controller?,  looks wide.

They can make it as comfy to hold as they want, it's still a dumb product.

I’ve never seen such an overreaction to what is simply an average game which, let’s face it, was never going to be make-or-break for Xbox’s success, and certainly wasn’t hyped to the level Starfield is.

It does not matter. The world’s biggest games are multi-platform. Streaming is the future.

Buying a PS5 and picking up a game or two a year (which is what I do, because those Sony games are exquisite) does not cut it anymore.

This generation will be the last consoles we buy.

picking up an Xbox instead of ... Switch.

I might be alone here but I don’t particularly care for exclusives. I’d just rather have a good platform with good games that functions. My Xbox gets more use than any of my other devices that have good exclusives save for the few weeks I’ll play a zelda or a Spider-man. I still have no intention of getting a PS5 just
