I’ve got a 2004 Saturn Ion (Redline edition, fuck yeah!) with 190k miles that I use as a commuter. Bought new for about $14,000 and probably have put only a few thousand into maintenance. Say what you want, but if you have a manual and keep it maintained, there’s not much that can go wrong with the car.
