Indeed, I work as a director of culinary and food substitutions/food safety keep me awake at night. I’ve seen things in places that made me go, “you’re going to serve that?”. While thawing practices alone make me wonder about people, I watched someone offer a random jar of pesto as a sub to fulfill an order and I

I have the same allergy. From the lone star tick. Once the tick’s bite i became extremely allergic to beef and some pork products mildly. The lone star tick disease or allergy can be deadly as ive been hospitlized on several occassions before i knew it was food allergy; as i had eaten beef my life before this killer

Even forgetting that there are some people who can’t have red meat due to severe medical issues, its STILL a big deal to serve someone something they are not comfortable eating. I have a question for those that are laughing it off and saying that its no big deal. What if I swap out your next burger for for one made

You’re 100% right, but it doesn’t matter the reason, its NOT ok to be switching out food. Whatever reason someone has for abstaining from a certain food, or whether they just want to have something different, switching an ingredient is wrong.

All the kids are doin’ it!

Here I’d like to remind people to give their dogs regular flea/tick meds and to be careful when hiking or going anywhere that ticks are known to be common. They even make clothes now that has tick repellant built in. Tick borne disease is no joke! Even worse than Lyme Disease or the meat allergy reaction is the

that’s funny because I was going to say the same exact thing, except the opposite.

Funnily enough, from the Eater source article:

“I know people think they’re cute and funny” - don’t listen to this; I think you’re super-cute.

Well, let’s just go ahead and add that onto “Things I didn’t know were a thing and now I’m disproportionately terrified of it” pile.

Thank you. This isn’t funny. People have been deceived into breaking ethical and/or religious convictions, and people have been exposed to harm from this. I don’t have the red meat allergy your friend does, but my stomach does not like it. The few times there has been undisclosed meat in food I ate I knew it, because

which is becoming more popular

More likely there were a bunch of skeptics who ordered it and while eating the real meat burgers, thinking they were the Impossible burger, they were saying, “Yuk! This is terrible! It tastes nothing like the real thing!”

So what you're saying is that it's been Kevin Pang THIS WHOLE TIME?!? 1?

“No, honey, Santa is real, that man in the mall is one of his helpers!”

Guys, someone has to upload the Salty columns to the Kinja CMS. I appreciate the compliment (?), though.

They should clearly not be placed anywhere near the meat section, as meat-eaters are easily confused and distracted by things like “words” on “packaging”. Also, laser pointers, bits of tinsel, and other shiny objects should be banned from designated meat areas as well.

Almond milk doesn’t come from a cow. It’s with the milk.

Go absolutely batshit with the ups and downs. Don’t just note, show entire sequences of a Queen or Elton John party, in all their Caligula-like excess. Blow our minds out with the sheer decadence and over-indulgence and don’t pretend these people ever really came down off their cloud of entitlement, even when humbled
