As much as they want to demonize single mothers and poor families what they really want is more low skilled workers they can take advantage of to make themselves rich and they want to be able to push young girls into marriage and trap them there with several children and no education.

So, if you’re a wrong reasons viewer you have to watch the Brazil version. It’s got an awesome final episode and it’s train wreck central.

The problems that people have with trek is because they’re sad about what it could have been.  If you take it as it is it’s a fantastic show and very watchable and has some of the best episodes of trek (most of the best comedic episodes are in Voyager).

I’m hoping that Strange New Worlds gives us an optimistic adventure show instead of we have to save the world and only I can do it of the current live action trek shows.

They did that a couple times.  Full serialization didn’t work with Enterprise.  What they did with DS9 really was the best.

It’s the optimism that makes trek trek. That’s why discovery didn’t work.  Trek isn’t dark and gritty.

I do think it would have been better if they kept it episodic but also didn’t hit the reset button as much and had short arcs.  But at the time people didn’t like DS9…
