That would be my take on it considering the fallout but this article is just a mess explaining what happened by trying to draw some parallel to something that happened on an old Ellen show.

I think they realised a kids show didnt work on Paramount+ as the demographic of most content was firmly skewed to adult and there wasnt a lot of other kids programming, the merger with Showtime allows it to continue to build its adult audience.

Star Trek has been launching all the time on rival platforms in Europe, Picard was on Prime while Discovery was on Netflix, they were going to move exclusively to Paramount+ when it launched but due to fan outcry they simulcast it with Prime. Meanwhile Prodigy S1 Part one launched on Nickelodeon before S1 Part two…

It’s crazy. Your one guaranteed sale no matter how other content goes is to loyal Star Trek fans. Not to mention you can build more fans down the road whenever you bring new ST worlds. Why would you ever cull any content from that group?!
