I’d still like to have a word with whoever was responsible for locking Epona behind an out-of-print Amiibo. In my mind, Epona is as much of a character in open world Zelda games as Link, Zelda, and Gannon.  Imagine if the next Zelda game had Link attempting to rescue the dark-haired Queen Karen unless you had

Businesses stick pick up their phones.

Or... a crossover?

I don’t think speedrunning counts if you use game glitches, you might as well just use a noclip code and go straight to the end

I don’t know if “best Robert Rodriguez movie in ages” is the confidence booster you think it is.

Ann? The real loss on that episode was CHRIS leaving.

I thought you were joking, but holy shit, that truly is some 80s edgelord contrarianism.

It’s incredible so make sure you’re sitting down but actors often aren’t the same age as the characters they play. I know right, astonishing.

Great post. Although, Marvel’s Loki retcon seems completely unnecessary to me. I always thought Loki acted more evil than usual in Avengers because he’d just survived the trauma of being cast into the void at the end of Thor. That would make anyone act out of character.

Wake me when they retool it as Judge Jerry and Executioner.

Agreed! It's so much fun to come here every Friday and read a thoughtful essay that feels like the old days.

this feature is so good - this and Age of Heroes is some of the best movie criticism around right now. And well done AVClub too - this is exactly the features we want on this site.

Anyone else think this movie is a lot better than the first one? Wednesday’s revenge on the camp REALLY awakened some things in me.

For anyone else who had no idea: It’s originally from 1989.

In the 90's, Nickelodeon had a short-lived Dr. Seuss television series with the Jim Henson Company where the Cat, the Grinch (and his dog Max) and Horton all interacted. It’s obvious, the Grinch is Ant-Man.

Prediction: Common will be one of the main stars of the Continental (John Wick) series that is being developed. Get him and Lance Reddick and fill in a few other assassins and we’re golden.

Two weeks ago I said Tom should have just made this week’s entry a tie, but damned if he didn’t make his case for TDK.

Zelda’s dream was a nice little inversion of the Cain and Abel myth. In the original, it’s the meat offering that’s accepted and the fruit one that is rejected, but with the Dark Lord being the antithesis of God it makes sense that it’s the other way around. Having Zelda say “Am I my sister’s keeper?” is a little more

At the risk of being the jerk who doesn’t get the joke/sarcasm, Dorcas was actually a very popular name a long time ago. In fact, I believe at least one of the women from the Salem Witch Trials was named Dorcas.

I thought it was pretty funny when “Hurdy Gurdy Man” started playing.  It’s as if they were saying “we’re going to include a Donovan song in this show but it’s not the one you’d think.”
