I also thought the choices made for this ending were pretty suspect. First the house is a devouring monster, then it’s a happy place where everyone should want to be? That’s sappy last line was unearned.

“Seven states incorrect about best Halloween candy.”
And Johnny Depp’s body isn’t even cold yet? Disrespectful.
Just started watching, I’m pretty pleased so far actually.
I’ve had an exploder. It seems to be a rare thing. Cleaning burnt potato debris from inside the oven was not fun.
My two methods:
Any word on sequel work for this, or were they waiting to see how it performs? Returns so far look like it might not make back its money, which would be a pity, but also not too surprising for a kooky kid’s horror vehicle based on a little-known property. I say this as a person who loved Bellairs’s books, but no one I…
I didn’t think of book Uncle J as gay, although in retrospect he certainly could’ve been read that way. I came out of the movie thinking that Jack Black made a conscious choice to play him as gay. Lifelong bachelor uncle loves wearing kimonos and hanging with his platonic lady friend? Mmhmm.
Yeah it was quite different. You could tell they made changes to make it more of a mainstream thing. Kind of ironic since the books were always an oddball among children’s literature, and the movie itself has this whole embrace the weirdness moral.
Yeah for me this was just a book about a chubby outcast kid having adventures and learning about self confidence. Also, I thought the surrogate parents of Uncle J and Mrs. Z were awesome.
Yeah I don’t see much Potter in these trailers, and Bellairs wrote his books well before Rowling. If anything, I saw what Katie mentioned: that strong Disney channel vibe. I’m wondering whether this movie will manage good suspense or go full Disney channel and be really good natured.
Costco might be better for recipe use based on the per lb measure, but yeah not for eating.
Yeah I was worried this would be a selection of grocery stores I’ve never heard of. But I’ve actually had all of these, I think! And Whole Foods really is dry af, and is even worse than local grocery store ones with the nasty drippings. I assume they make money only on the fact that it is sold by Whole Foods, and…
I thought this was a flavor competition? If so obvs Boston Market wins. You can’t really give Costco a win for being Costco, where everything is twice the size.
The insurance comparison is apt: we don’t get mad at people for making a big insurance claim for say, an accident or cancer.
I actually never thought of White Castle as sliders. Much like Pizza Hut, White Castle is simply it’s own thing. Sliders is made at home or by a restaurant.
Somehow diagonal cut feels like more work. So I straight cut when I’m lazy, diagonal when I’m feeling fancy. There is no such thing as an X-cut.
Much like how all foods are “organic”, this is a fairly silly moniker. Especially since, unlike “organic”, people will be writing “i.e. lab-grown meat” with this one for ages. They should’ve stuck with lab-grown, which at least is forthright about what it is, and doesn’t seem like an underhanded tactic to fool…
I hate them usually, but they’re a decent option when someone thinks they’re being nice by bringing bagels to work, but doesn’t bring any spread.
Yeah why on earth would someone object to cheesesteak on garlic bread? Garlic bread makes all sandwiches better, except maybe PB&J. And hot dogs, ha!
