Maybe I’m high, but one of the worlds she visits I’m pretty sure was the one from The Menagerie.

Jason Isaacs is so great. I knew he would be a great addition to this franchise and he did not disappoint. He’s perfect at conveying all the enigmatic menace of Lorca.

I like the roomate - she brings out a softer side, which does a lot for Burnham’s character.

This is a pretty different Star Trek from what we’ve gotten

This is also the first trek of an era where we really don’t expect to give shows time to get good.

I’ve come to understand any new Trek product has the immense weight of fan expectation upon it. Probably superceded only by Star Wars in terms of scale.

Well, we’ve got our title ship and its crew and we’re trekking through the stars, complete with away missions to the aftermath of science experiments gone horribly wrong. That certainly feels closer to the Star Trek paradigm I’m used to, which does a lot to balance out my feelings about the more caustic, bellicose

I just watched all three episodes today. I’m on board.

Mention upthread is made of Nick Meyer’s involvement.

I think the first two episodes did an excellent job setting the stage for this episode and Burnham’s current situation. Every single interaction she had with anyone not a slug monster in this episode was motivated by what happened in the previous two episodes and made perfect sense in (and only in) that context.

I agree with the characters. It’s a pretty dull and uninspired design, in my opinion, and obviously has seen better days. But that is part of the charm for me.

Stupid movies need the most attention!

Yeah, because context doesn’t matter! ::eyeroll::

MOTHER really is quite a good movie. It’s been on my mind since I saw it, which is something you can’t say about any of the summer blockbusters.

I’m new to kinja but did we just side step the fact that this comment was left by the actual Spider-Man?

No part of this makes any sense to me. For I am old.

Is it just me or do these two make sense as a couple?

I kind of like the VLM as just part of the ambience. The citizens of The City go about their business and half-watch news broadcasts about it because this is just background noise to them.

Being stuck in a holding pattern in a flying suit because you’re afraid to disengage the autopilot because you don’t know if you can fly on your own is such a beautiful metaphor for how some people live their lives.

I’m gonna be honest with you, in most movies and TV shows I prefer the inaccurate French accent. For dramas and anything I want to take seriously, yes, get it right. For anything else, though, I want my Frenchies to sound like Inspector Clouseau’s less intelligible kin.

It is funny how the wokest of the woke, Isha Aran, is basically saying “they all look alike”.
