That surprised me, too. I typically just hear people grumble "A-rab" if they are going to be inconsiderate about a person of Middle Eastern descent.

I had no idea "gypped" was even related to "gypsies" until I used it in a paper in high school. SO embarrassed when my teacher pointed it out. ("Gypsy" is a slur in and of itself, right?)
