Right? They literally go to med school for 4 years and then do at least an additional 4 years of residency to learn not to f*ck it up. Not to mention their malpractice insurance is pretty high, which tells you just how stressful their jobs are.

It’s so dumb because every anti-abortion law forces doctors to choose between violating their oaths or violating the law. I’m pretty sure licensed doctors have an obligation to tell patients the full truth (the actual truth, not the false facts that they’re forced to sell).
Yeah, that’s why I’m confused! I know that at least some of the drug will pass to the fetus, but I don’t know how you’re supposed to quantify that so that you can “prove” the fetus got a “good” dosage through the mother. Injecting it directly seems like overkill and a huge waste of resources (where are they gonna hire…
Thanks for the explanation! I love learning new facts. So in this law, these fetuses would be around 20 weeks old. Since there are a lot of factors involved in how effective oral drugs are, I’m guessing that this law intends for doctors to directly inject anesthetics to the fetus. In that case, would an…
Right???? Anesthesia is not like getting the damn flu shot. That sh*t is dangerous as hell. Why do they think doctors go through 4 years of med school and then 4 more years of residency if not to learn how to do said dangerous thing without killing people??
We should start sending him dildos so he can do just that!
That’s....a pretty good metaphor. :(
They’re just a mess of contradictions. First, they call women sluts for having sex, but all they want women to do is pop out babbies! Then they stop women from getting abortions/birth control but then accuse them of being welfare queens when they give birth!
I actually think that this is an intentionally vague law so that there would be room to prosecute the doctors (and possibly the patients) for “violations”.
I have very limited knowledge of fetuses/pregnancy, so does anybody know how much painkiller passes through to the fetus via the placenta? And how fast? Also how do you measure painkiller efficacy in fetuses? Isn’t it already hard enough to do with adult humans? HOW DOES THIS WORK
You know what I hate about geek culture? How apparently defending geekdom is more important than looking out for the actual people in it, or the people that so-called nerds hurt as a result (*cough* gamergate).
Ahhhh that shit ain’t cool >:(
*muffled screaming*
I admire that (not the poor guy who killed himself, but you guys who work/worked with dangerous animals)! Although I’m afraid of chimps, I think that they’re very important to study, so kudos to the capable people who work with them. :)
OMG, I wouldn’t feed them either! All I can imagine is that scene in the Mummy is where that guy sticks his hand in a hole in the wall and it gets eaten alive. :O
One of the scariest tropes in horror movies/video games is when mannequins turn their heads to look at you or when they move. :’(
Oh same! Uncanny Valley DEFINITELY plays a large role in my fears. Also, going back to my bio major, I focused in genetics, so the fact that they are almost 99% similar to us DNA-wise also bothers me. What’s the Uncanny Valley equivalent for genomes?
Now I can tell my monkey-loving friends that THEY’RE the crazy ones!! (But seriously, I was a biology major in college and EVERYTHING I learned about primates made me just more afraid of them. They’re like the id without the ego and superego. They have SO MANY deadly diseases.)
You’re basically right. Skin is an organ like any other, which means that your body will reject it like it would any other “foreign” organ.
First of all, she is amazing for giving her all to this experiment. I hope that science advances far enough that face transplants (or 3D-printing faces!!) are a real possibility for everybody.
