I, for one, hate the new Prius because after it finally looks cool, has decent HP, and offers the hybrid practicality exactly at the time I’m shopping for all those things, I sit in one and realize the new funky steering wheel+cluster doesn’t adjust high enough for anyone over 6'3" to get their legs under it without

I envy having so many high powered chargers - the most a non-Tesla can get within a mile or two from my apartment is a measly 7.2kW.

TL;DR: Cost-benefit tradeoffs

IMO most other brands have given up on actually making distinguishable vehicles, most notably the American ones. Kia/Hyundai have a lot of bad rep to overcome, so they’re going a lot harder than the GM/Ford/Tesla/VW/Nissans that are just resting on laurels.

Forgive me for stretching the definition of car, but if there’s a totally mundane vehicle that elicits a “hell yeah, that’s awesome” response from me, it’s a single cab & short bed 1/2 ton pickup. They’re hard to find outside of business/contractor work, but anyone who can be bothered to find and drive one is a

These resources will form part of a new VW subsidiary that’ll handle the rollout of the carmaker’s self-driving cars in the U.S., based out of Belmont, California and Austin, Texas.

I mostly picked on the A5 because it’s the only other mid-size liftback around that price point that I’m aware of. Buick Regal was the only other one I could think of, but IIRC they ended production.

Performance in comparison might have been lacking, I’ll grant you, but to me the Stinger excelled in uniqueness; all those other cars are so common they’re not special to see on the road. I think special trims often get diluted by manufacturers offering too many similar versions that a layperson couldn’t readily tell

I’m noticing a LOT of Hyundai/Kia in these comments, so let me pile on:

I don’t know if it’s available on America, but it’s currently for sale in Europe, Asia, Oceania and South America, so I think it should count.

I love the Ioniq 5, I just wish Hyundai offered a broader color palette.

I used to be 100% hatch over sedan but that C-pillar in the latest 3 is horrible. They might as well not have a rear window for how little visibility it has in the rear.

They don’t have a full electric V60 but they do have a plug-in hybrid with 40mi of EV range.

California allows this as well.

To be fair, it is an “Initial Quality Survey” not an “Long term reliability survey” - it’s only looking at issues/frustrations/problems found for the first 3 months experiencing a new car.

Backing up, the expansion of Alpine is a key pillar of parent company Renault’s “Renaulution Plan,” which I didn’t like typing any more than you liked reading.

I know the pain of the Mazda 5 owner - I have a Honda 2016 CR-Z, and Google, dealerships, AND Honda of America customer support have asked “Did you mean CR-V?”. I called support at Honda in 2021 to ask about the manufacture date of my car and when pulling up my car the tech said “oh wow I didn’t know about this” — you

I love that we had a midsize wagon option in the Regal TourX, and it was nice looking on the outside, but jeez that interior had cheap, rental car GM feel all over it. The value of a big wagon would forever be overshadowed by the GM quality.

A few states have provisions for as young as 14 to drive stuff like tractors to help out on farms, but largely, nothing. If you aren’t old enough to drive, you ride a bike (if possible) or more likely you get a ride from someone else. There aren’t any other road-legal solutions that I’m aware of.
