I would argue sci fi has a distinct sound as well, maybe not so much in modern cinema, but there are distinct sounds in earlier sci-fi that seemed to be shared among movies and series. the wooshing of doors opening, the radar blips, electric snapping and a spring in a tube laser sounds.
