Like ranch, blue cheese dressing should be made with buttermilk and not vegetable oil. In fact, you can get by with just throwing blue cheese and buttermilk in a blender and then adding a few chunks afterward and it’s amazing. Season it with some pepper and garlic if you have to, but it’s not even necessary.

You can even forget regular homemade. There’s still a Hidden Valley mix available that uses buttermilk - and it tastes as good if not better than any restaurant-made dressing.
