Yeah I always am baffled by that response to saying something super fucked up and the responding with “oh I didn’t mean it like that” or “oh sorry that joke went to far...”

This is so goddamned depressing. We have a large Islamic community in my city, and lately I’ve been trying to give every person who wears hijab an extra large smile when I pass them. It’s probably silly, but it’s one of the only things I feel that I can do (besides donating to the Dems).

It’s all in the context and the delivery. For all we know the teacher was wearing a rainbow fright wig, carrying a bottle of seltzer and sporting a t-shirt reading “OFFICIAL BOMB INSPECKTORE.” That’s funny, right?
