There is a reason why the top 20 career earners in eSports are all Dota2 players. The prize pools are high because they are community funded. I am pretty sure Universe from EG is the biggest earner in eSports history.

You don’t have to click. Easy.

Yeah, those fucking losers who made over 1.5 million winning the biggest tournament in their sport. If anything, they are probably about to buy wherever you work and make it functional.

I would say that they weren’t necessarily the best team all year. That is still OG. But that Wings run at TI6 was straight up magical. They picked the weirdest, most off the wall shit, and essentially created the meta in their own image.

Sumail is an absolute joy to watch.

Randy is such an incredible athlete. I just wish he were more motivated.

Once again, this is a great piece. I never thought I would see a Keith Lee article on Deadspin. He is a special talent.

Still looks like they are doing no X-Men characters. Sad. Magneto, Sentinel, Storm, and Wolverine were all top of the meta in the last game.

These are fair points, but still a lot of work to put into a performance piece.

Meltzer originally said he thought it was a work, but got confirmation that Shibby was, in fact, hurt.

You are referring to that horrific dragon suplex that Okada took, aren’t you?Because that move was cool, but so incredibly dangerous.

And I agree with the Meltzer thing a lot. He writes in the Observer about how high workrate matches aren’t the end all be all, chides the workers for going a bit stiff, and then gives

I hope I am wrong. This being a real thing would be rad.

Yeah, I am not trying to rain on anyone’s parade. I am legitimately impressed by how authentic everything about the “game” is. I say “game” because we don’t even know if what is on screen is actually being played.

And also, this has been a rising YouTube thing, and certainly by now John Smith, former

Katsuyori Shibata matches are such a weird thing for me. I don’t know how to process them. On one hand: Holy fuck, he is totally killing that guy. And on the other: Holy fuck, I wish he wouldn’t kill that guy.

It was pretty obvious that he was going to be one of their top stars to help fill the void left from last

Suicide dives are nothing but moves to take people to commercial now. So much risk for something that barely pops the crowd anymore.

That match was incredible, but as someone who has only been watching NJPW for a little over a year and a half, I am not surprised that this happened to Shibby.

His entire gimmick is essentially someone saying “wrestling’s fake” and him reacting to it by legit smashing people with forearms, kicks, and headbutts, and

I am calling it as an elaborate hoax/performance piece, but an incredibly impressive one. I just have a hard time believing that a game could be completely “lost” without no one ever mentioning it over the past 20 years.

As someone on the spectrum, it really doesn’t bother me personally. I am not excusing it. I wish people wouldn’t use it as a putdown. But I am proud of who I am and what I have achieved.

I just have no idea how you can watch the season, watch Westbrook’s performance on that terrible team, and not call him MVP. This is no disrespect to Harden, James, or Leonard, who are all incredible players. But Westbrook is the MVP.

Nintendo makes it so hard to defend Nintendo.
