pssst - T2 was pretty much a remake (inferior, IMHO) of the original. Yeah, they had the whole "Ahnoldbot learns to love" thing, but that wasn't even explored as well as it would've been in a Data-centric episode of Next Generation. (YMMV, of course :))

After episode V the films degenerated into ads for action figures, video games and plush toys. I'm worried that the degeneration might continue, and even accelerate, under Disney.

You can stab him in later encounters, he pretty much just shrugs it off. Hell at one part I tried to kill him with just the knife, took a good 20 sneak stabs to down him.
