Not really, the only similarity between android and ios was the persistent bar of icons at the bottom of the homescreens (which android added later) and that bar has been in mobile os' for a long time just look at HTC's TouchFlo interface (predecessor to sense). other than that the interfaces are very different.

This interface reminds me of a weird mix of android holo and windows metro.

You don't sit in the left lane if there is one, you only move over to pass or to make a left turn. You don't just stay in the left lane because you know you need to make a turn in ten miles, the passing lane laws are for all multi-lane roads not just freeways.

I do see the problem that you could not have more than 1 metro app open in that 1/4 of the screen space and for that it can not replace gadgets in your case if you use 3

I'm not sure what you mean by this comment, I was saying that i believe there is a shortcut that will restore all windows that works separately from the show desktop button.
