I second the love for the Bugle—it's great.
Agreed. This is terrible. These comments are disgusting.
I haven't read it, but there is a book called, "Grunge Is Dead: The Oral History of Seattle Rock Music"
Excited to See This Is Out
I'm a huge fan of "Love and Hydrogen." This sounds rewarding as well.
I second that—can't wait to get it.
Patti Smith
Let me chime in on the No Code support section—I think it's a great album.
Thanks!
Warlight - Time to Play
Warlight sounds fun, but how long does the average game take? Is it something you could actually play online with friends if you have, you know, a job and things like that.
Mad, I'm with you on Whedon and Vaughn—I don't understand the love. I've enjoyed some of their work (more Vaughn than Whedon), but I find the obvious self-satisfaction to be an incredible turn-off. Many of the exchanges read like writer's attempts at the old pin-ups the comics used to features.
Ditto on the factory. The bosses are just toying with me.
Thanks for recommending that one last week - I really enjoyed it. I didn't think it was ugly either.
I'm with you, Leonard. I hate it when comics writers contort their story for a transparent "Badass!" moment. It's worse that Millar, Ellis et al. are often presented as exemplars of "mature" comics.
My favorite Brubaker work is Sleeper, a dark, inventive series about a powered double agent who becomes lost in his own loyalties. It's a great read, and I think it prefaces some of the stuff he's doing now with Criminal and Incognito.
In addition to being unethical…
…it looks like these unpaid internships may be illegal as well. Check out the New York Times on the subject.
That's fine you don't like his writing, but saying "his writing is still on the level of an above average high school student" is uniformed nonsense.
Wow - it's a great story, but Leitch manages the rare combo of coming off like a needy user and a thoughtless prick.
Oh, wait, you don't know what you're talking about, because you just "cruised by his site for the second time in [your] life." Informative commentary there.
