The rehabilitation of Tyson’s image - from humorous cameos to cartoon appearances - sure has been a head scratcher. And folks will definitely come out of the woodwork to defend him.

Agree with all your points, but I don’t think the family cares. Whatever you believe re: the husband, she definitely fucked the family out of their inheritance. They don’t expect to get real tips; this ad is all about making life difficult for her and inflicting as much pain as possible (for which I can’t really blame

I made tongue tacos for the first time last month. They were fucking insane and I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to make them.

Didn’t Manning press his junk into a female trainer’s face?

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is not just a story about metamorphosis, but the duality of cultural notions/expectations of masculinity and acceptability wrestling with homosexual desire and urges (another big theme in this episode).

Montrose is doomed. He died the moment he slit Yahima’s throat. There is no way the cosmic and karmic scales of fiction allow him a happy ending after that. The best he can hope for is a martyr’s death.

The Star Wars universe is, at this point, a platform for telling stories. Some are great. Some suck. Some are in the original genre of science fantasy. Some are WW2 impossible mission thrillers (Rogue One), some are westerns (The Mandalorian).

It also makes me wonder about... who’s becoming cops now. Lets say you became a cop 5, 10, 15 years ago to help people, which is something a lot of cops claim was their incentive. And maybe you could make an argument that, up until recently, that was believable. (It ignores the historic role police forces have played

oh it was intentional ;)

I was home sick from high school one day and watched Braveheart three times in a row. True story.

Oh yea those are both great examples. At least the rest of the Ender books sucked, or so I hear.

I mean I’ll probably read them to her. As I said, I love Lovecraft. I grew up reading Tolkien, who I now find extremely problematic, and I turned out alright. I think I’ll probably just go out of my way to separate the author from the work i.e. she’ll be a Harry Potter fan as opposed to a JK Rowling fan, and when

Agree, the profession attracts a disproportionate number of assholes. And coupled with the power that comes with it... Assume, conservatively, 1 in 3 people are huge assholes. If 1 in 3 dentists or accountants or grocery store clerks were assholes... that would suck but we’d get through it. 1 in 3 cops? 1 in 3 guys

I had a neighbor who was a cop. I’m not sure how to classify myself race-wise — I’m not Mayflower white, but I’m a mix of the most white adjacent white-passing ethnicities out there. I don’t consider myself white, but I have white privilege and grew up with every advantage that comes with growing up in a majority

I thought that was Kit Harrington

I genuinely wish her all the best.

It’s a funny thing about the art and the artist.

Understood - I mostly wanted to clarify my own statement cause I know it probably came off as judgy. If folks are into it and its consensual, let your freak flag fly. Enthusiastic fan of enthusiastic consent over here :)

I grew up in North Jersey, the suburbs of NYC. I was raised to pretty much believe NYC, and specifically Manhattan, was the center of the universe. Like, it wasn’t something intentionally on my parents’ part, it just permeated the culture. The assumption was, growing up upper middle class, that I would one day work
