RIP Jezebel and all the other G/O sites. It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago stories would generate hundreds of comments and sustained discussion. Now you see 3, maybe 4 comments on a story. It’s amazing how quickly they torpedoed the entire family of sites. 

Not a shock as many of us have been swilling in the greys for over a decade.

You’re completely missing the value and benefit of a secret menu. The biggest benefit (besides letting customers feel “cool” so they return) is the “standard” menu is simplified to keep the line moving. God only knows how one goes about getting ungreyed around here. I was in the black for forever, lost my burner password, and back to purgatory with a new burner. I got out of the grays on AV Club within like 3 days, same with Lifehacker. But Jez and the Takeout are a mystery. Can’t crack the code.
