I’m still a day 1 or 2 reservation holder for the Lightning, my dealer keeps getting 5 allocations but because I’m not a “preferred” customer i.e. I didn’t pay the $5k extortion to get on the list, I haven’t even received so much as a phone call from Ford.

It was one of my favorite (aside from the “night panel”) quirks of the ‘99 9-5 wagon I’d been borrowing summers for the past two years. My wife even took a liking to it on the occasions she’d drive the car at night.

Can I get a honorable mention for the Saab 900/9000/9-5 vehicles equipped with headlights/side markers which also illuminate the sides of the vehicle when you put it in reverse? Called side reverse lights or “side guidance reversing lights) in some Saab literature, the Autopian did an article on them back in March.

Sigh. The 5th gen 4Runner. The current facelift is from 2014 model year (released in 2013, 9 years ago). And, looks aside, don’t get me started on the age of the mechanical underpinnings/platform of these things.

Yikes where are you looking? I could buy all 3 of the 3rd gens on my local Craigslist for just north of $8400.

Are we looking at the same XJ? The exterior cosmetics mentioned in the advert & shown in the pictures alone make this one a crack pipe at $8k.

At the risk of sounding like a commercial, they’ve been the easiest insurance company to work with of the many I’ve had. Usually their agents are fellow enthusiasts and can sort out ways to save you some $$. I met mine through a make-specific club which has a nat’l affiliation which offers a Hagerty discount. BMW CCA…

Yup. I’ve used it a few times on non-covered vehicles. No questions asked. The “3rd gear” plan from Hagerty is the only one which covers this. The 1st/2nd gear are only for the covered vehicle.

I’ve availed myself of Hagerty Driver’s club “3rd gear” unlimited tows up to 150 miles multiple times. Total cost is $250/yr and that includes any vehicle I own, guaranteed flat-bed tow, and also insures my 240z up to an agreed-upon value.

The R1T I’ve ordered-but-not-yet-received-even-so-much-as-a-build-date-for is better optioned than a similarly-priced F150 Lightning (Lariat) and costs $74,500 before the credit.
