Anyone in the market for a kidney?

I heard they were developed with some input from Porsche? Either way, I concur with your assessment. That poor engine has been subjected to things over the past 300,000 miles that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

I hear that! Mine went through my dad, my teenage self, my teenage brother and my teenage sister before being rescued from a field by adult (questionable) me in 2011 with 226,000 miles. Mine definitely saw its fair share of redlines too, but it’s taking it easy (relatively) in it’s retirement. It now has 300k and

Ah yeah I have PRND3L and Sport/Econ/Winter modes. Sport holds the gears longer, winter starts in 3rd, and economy isn’t. I half think that if I had a geartronic, I’d have blown the engine to pieces by now.

Is... is that guy serious? I thought it was a poor attempt at sarcasm or something.

hey, gotta count those kilowatts. One unnecessary blinker flash = 10 miles of lost pure EV range, right?

I’ve been told that this engine really wakes up over 4,000 RPM. Too bad mine refuses to rev that high before it shifts. And by the time I’m out of gears, the car runs out of steam around 2500 RPM, which is right around 65 MPH. Perfect for my local freeway, where the speed limit is 75.

Mine crested 300k a few months back, original engine, trans, head gasket & rear main seal. I don’t want to push it.

FINALLY!

Ah, theres your problem. You have too many cylinders. And turbos. N/A 5 cyl here, and it loves 1500 - 3000 rpm.

My 20 year old Volvo scoffs in the face of such advice. I find I can cure most any fault on the car by driving it, slowly and in the passing lane, and never using the turn signal.

Somewhere, the engineer who pitched the Big Dig is crying tears of joy (and wiping them up with $100 bills).

She was born about 5 years after the song came out. So it’s possible.

Nice article, small nit to pick, Rhianon Gelsomino’s first name isn’t Riohana.

Thank you... I’ve been looking for this vid since the article was posted.

Reminds me of the Sensonic system in the NG Saab 900. James may did a [hit] piece on one a few years back.

I used to “interact” quite a bit with the local constabulary in the small town where I lived as a youth. This was around the time that the 1990's LT1-powered Caprices were being replaced with Crown Victorias. Across the board, all of the Officers I spoke with lamented the fact that the Crown Vic was under-powered and

Thats immediately where my brain went, too. But if my talks w/cab drivers are any indication, they’ve actually had *fewer* issues with their Hybrid Escapes, Camrys and Priuses than they did with their Crown Vics...

Kind of a general question but how are these newer vehicles holding up maintenance / durability-wise vs. the Crown Vics?

So instead, trying to dissuade them from filming, they issued a warning citation about something incidental or unrelated to their permits, perhaps?
